A compact red laser pointer for every day

The R2 Pro proves that a rechargeable red laser pointer does not have to be bulky. At 11.2 cm it is one of the smallest lasers in our shop, yet it has an aluminium body and a rechargeable 16340 Li-ion battery, with a charger in the box. Pop it in your jacket for the commute, keep it in a pencil case for lessons, or leave it on the side table for the cat's evening workout.

The output is up to 1 mW, laser class 2 – the class intended for sale to the public in the UK.

Made for short distances

Red is at home indoors: in a meeting room, lecture theatre or living room the dot is clear and comfortable to follow. Outside, its visible range is shorter than green, as the table below shows.

• Presentations: small and light in the hand during a long talk.
• Cat play: easy to keep within reach on the sofa.
• Travel: rechargeable, so no spare AAA batteries rattling in your bag.

Battery tips

A small 16340 cell means more frequent charging than a full-size Pro. Still, with normal use a charge lasts at least about a month, and a spare PowerFox 16340 2-pack with a second PowerFox charger keeps you going through a busy week. The battery comes out of the laser to charge.

Safe use at home

Class 2 means the blink reflex gives a safety margin against a brief accidental glance – it is not a reason to look into the beam. Never aim the laser at eyes, at people or at animals' eyes, nor at vehicles, aircraft or reflective surfaces like mirrors and windows. Keep it out of reach of children; it is not a toy and we sell to adults (18+) only. There are no safety keys on the R2 Pro, so keep it somewhere children cannot reach.
