Why a green laser pen pointer?
Green is the colour our customers choose most, and for good reason. A 532 nm green dot looks noticeably brighter to the human eye than red or violet, so it is easier to follow on a busy slide, easier for a cat to spot on a patterned rug and easier to see across a garden at dusk. Every green laser pen pointer on this page is a Starlight Lasers model with an output up to 1 mW, laser class 2 – the class intended for sale to the public in the UK.
You can choose between two families. The pen models – the X1 and the X2 with pattern cap – are slim and light in the hand, run on 2x AAA batteries (included) and need no charging at all. The Pro models – G1 Pro, G2 Pro and our best seller the G3 Pro – have an aluminium body and a rechargeable Li-ion battery with charger in the box.
Indoors, any green model lights up a whole room or hall. In daylight you will see the dot at approx. 100 m on a shaded surface, at dusk approx. 300 m, and in the dark approx. 1 km – indicative figures that depend on light, weather and surface.

Pen or Pro – a quick rule of thumb
If you will use your laser now and then – a presentation each month, a play session with the cat in the evening – a pen model is perfect: drop in fresh AAA batteries and it is ready. If you use it often, take it on walks or stargazing evenings, or simply prefer a sturdier feel, a rechargeable Pro saves you buying batteries and feels solid in the hand. The two safety keys on the G1 Pro and G3 Pro mean the laser cannot be switched on without the key, which is reassuring in a family home.

Frequently asked questions
Is a green laser pen brighter than a red one?
Both are up to 1 mW, but the human eye is more sensitive to green light, so a green dot looks brighter and stays visible further away – approx. 1 km in the dark against approx. 300–500 m for red (indicative).
Do I need to charge a green laser pen?
Not the X1 or X2: they run on 2x AAA batteries, included. The Pro models come with a rechargeable Li-ion battery and a charger.
Can I use a green laser pen to play with my cat?
Yes. Keep the dot on the floor, never in the eyes, keep sessions short and end on a real toy the cat can catch.
