A green laser pen with patterns for a bit of magic

The X2 takes our popular green laser pen and adds a pattern cap. Without the cap you have a crisp 532 nm green dot for presentations and play; with the cap on, the beam becomes shapes and figures that you can project onto a wall or ceiling. It is a lovely little gadget for anyone who enjoys a bit of wonder – and a favourite as a laser pen with attachments.

Like all our lasers, the X2 has an output up to 1 mW, laser class 2 (EN 60825-1), the class intended for sale to the public in the UK. The aluminium pen has a pocket clip, and two powerful AAA batteries are included, so it works straight away, with nothing to charge.

Runs on 2x AAA. Replace both at the same time and remove them if the pen will be stored for a long period.

Class 2 lasers are designed so that the blink reflex protects against a brief accidental glance, but never treat that as permission: do not aim at eyes, at people or at animals' eyes, and never at vehicles, aircraft or reflective surfaces. What can the X2 pattern cap project?
Shapes and figures in green light – turn the cap to switch between about 3 patterns. Take the cap off for a normal single green dot.
Is the X2 good for playing with cats?
Use it without the pattern cap: a single dot is easiest for a cat to chase. Keep it on the floor, never in the eyes, and finish with a real toy.
