The Z1: a violet laser pen with character

The Z1 is for anyone who wants a laser pen that is a little bit different. Instead of red or green, it shines a 405 nm violet dot – a deep purple with a hint of blue that looks great on a white wall and always sparks a "what colour is that?". It is slim, light and has an aluminium body with a pocket clip and runs on two powerful AAA batteries (included), so it is ready the moment you unwrap it.

The Z1 has an output up to 1 mW, laser class 2 (EN 60825-1) – the class intended for sale to the public in the UK.

Honest about range

The human eye is less sensitive to violet than to green, so the Z1's dot looks softer and has the shortest visible range of our three colours. It is a laser for the living room, the office and the gift box rather than for long distances outdoors.

  • Gifts and stocking fillers: slim, unusual and fun.
  • Collectors who already have a red and green laser.
  • Indoor play with the cat: keep the dot low and end with a toy.

Range (indicative)

Indicative only: depends on conditions (light, weather and the surface the dot lands on).

Safety

Class 2 lasers are designed so that the blink reflex protects against a brief accidental glance, but never treat that as permission: do not aim at eyes, at people or at animals' eyes, and never at vehicles, aircraft or reflective surfaces. This is not a toy – keep it away from children; we sell to adults (18+) only. More on our laser pointer safety page.

Delivery is free and tracked: we ship with PostNL, usually 2–5 working days to the UK, and the parcel fits through your letterbox. 14 days to change your mind and a 1-year warranty (your statutory rights remain).
